Case study

Ten years of condo work,
reframed as projects.

A job-search portfolio that helps Amy Kong move from Condo Administrator to Project Coordinator while she completes the Google Project Management Certificate.

The problem

Amy spent ten years as a Condo Administrator at DEL Property Management, coordinating contractors, tracking budgets, and reporting to a Board of Directors. That is project coordination in all but title, but a resume that says "Condo Administrator" gets screened out of Project Coordinator roles before anyone reads the details. She needed somewhere to show recruiters that experience in project terms while she finished the Google Project Management Certificate.

The constraints

  • The audience is recruiters and hiring managers for Project Coordinator and Project Administrator roles in Toronto, so the site had to lead with the target role, not the old title.
  • The content changes as her job search does (the certificate status, case studies, resume), so updating it couldn't mean editing templates.
  • Recruiters often search a candidate by name, so "Amy Kong" had to lead to her site, not someone else with the same name.
  • Every claim has to come from her real experience, because she'll be asked to back it up in an interview.
  • The resume PDF is public and goes through applicant tracking systems: no phone number, and the text has to extract cleanly.

The decisions

I built the site around her career change. The hero leads with "Condo Administrator → Project Coordinator", and her day-to-day work is written up as project case studies in challenge, approach, and result form: an HVAC program across 300 suites in five days, an emergency water-leak restoration, and stakeholder alignment across residents, the Board, and management. Each case study has its own shareable page.

Behind the scenes, all the copy lives in a single content file, so an update is a one-line change, and the build fails if an image or her resume is missing. The resume PDF is checked to read cleanly in applicant tracking systems. A contact@amykong.ca address replaces a personal Gmail, with contact form messages sent through Resend as branded emails. For SEO, every page is prerendered with structured data, a sitemap, and share previews, so searching "Amy Kong" leads recruiters to her site. Accessibility is checked in CI.

What shipped

A single-page portfolio live at www.amykong.ca, with case study pages, a downloadable resume, a contact form, and the Google Project Management Certificate listed as in progress, ready to switch to complete once she finishes.

What's changed

Amy now has one link to put on applications and LinkedIn that shows ten years of vendor, budget, and stakeholder work as project coordination, instead of a job title that undersells it.

The most meaningful project I've shipped — the user was someone I wanted to see succeed.
